Treating Diabetes Mellitus of Type II with Yishenhuoxue Decoction

[Objective] To observe the clinical effect of Yishenhuoxue(tonifying kidney and activating blood circulation) decoction, prescribed by ourselves, on treating diabetes mellitus of type II(2DM). [Methods] One hundred and forty patients with 2DM were randomly divided into treatment group of Yishenhuoxue decoction(72 cases) and control group of Diamicron(68 cases). The course of treatment was 4 months. After that the clinical effect, FBG, blood sugar, blood fat 2 hurs after eating and the haemorheologic index in both groups were measured. [Results] The total effective rate of treatment group was 90.3% and that of control group was 73.5%. The clinical effect of treatment group was superior than that of control group. [Conclusions] The Yishenhuoxue decoction has obviously better clinical effect on treating 2DM and may significantly improves hyperlipemia and high blood viscosity state of patients with 2DM.
