Abstract
Objective To study the effect of antioxidant N-acetylcysteine(NAC) on gastric ischemia/reperfusion(GI/R) in rats.Methods After injection of NAC into femoral vein,the GI/R model was established by clamping the celiac artery for 30 min to induced ischemia and allowing reperfusion for 1 h.The rats were finally sacrificed to investigate gastric mucosal damage index(GMDI),determine the content of malondialdehyde(MDA) and the activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD) in gastric mucosa.The expression of apoptosis-related COX-2 was detected by RT-PCR. Results Injection of NAC into femoral vein could decrease gastric mucosal damage index,reduce the content of MDA,raise the activity of SOD and inhibit the expression of COX-2 in gastric mucosa following GI/R.Conclusion NAC can protect against GI/R injury by inhibiting oxidative stress and reducing cell apoptosis in gastric mucosa.
