Astigmatism Characteristics in 6～12-year-old Amblyopia Children

Objective To investigate the main types,distribution characteristics and their relationship to age and best corrected visual acuity(BCVA)of astigmatism in 6～12-year-old amblyopia children.Methods A total of 1 102 amblyopia children(1 843 eyes)with astigmatism aged from 6 to 12 years were enrolled to determine the astigmatism status of amblyopic eyes by retinoscopy under cycloplegia.The main types,distribution characteristics and its relationship to age and BCVA of astigmatism in amblyopic children were described.Results There was significant difference in astigmatism constituent ratio(P0.05)and in astigmatism axial distribution(P0.05)between children with different types of astigmatism.There was significant difference in astigmatism type distribution between different age groups(χ2=172.08,P0.05),but there was not in astigmatism axial distribution(χ2=20.39,P0.05).There was difference in astigmatism type,degree and axial distribution between amblyopia eyes with different BCVA(P0.05).Conclusion Hyperopia,mild and moderate astigmatism and that with rule are the main types in school-age amblyopia children with astigmatism.Age and amblyopia degree are closely related to astigmatism.It is necessary to correct astigmatism timely in school-age children.
