Abstract
Objective:To investigate the main types, distribution characteristic and its relationship with age or best corrected visual acuity(BCVA) of astigmatism in school-aged amblyopic children. Methods:1 102 amblyopia children(1 843 eyes) with astigmatism in age from 6 to 12 years were studied. The astigmatism status of amblyopic eyes were measured by retinoscopy optometries under the ciliary muscles paralysed. The main types, distribution characteristic and its relationship with age or BCVA of astigmatism in amblyopic children were described. Results:① In 1 843 astigmatism eyes, the 0.50~2.00 D group, hyperopia astigmatism group and astigmatism axial followed the rules were the mainly group, which accounted for 66.9%,62.6% and 88.8% respectively; The distribution of astigmatism degree and astigmatism axial in different astigmatism type were statistically different(P0.001).② The distribution of astigmatism type and astigmatism degree in different age were statistically different(P0.05),however,the distribution of astigmatism axial in different age had no statistically different(P0.05);the proportion of compound hyperopia astigmatism increased with age, while simple hyperopia astigmatism becomed lower.③The proportion of ametropic amblyopia, anisometropic amblyopia and strabismic amblyopia were 70.0%,24.2% and 5.8% respectively; The distribution of astigmatism degree, astigmatism type in different kinds of amblyopic eyes had statistically different(P0.05),while the distribution of astigmatism axial in different kinds of amblyopic eyes had no statistically different(P0.05). Conclusion:Hyperopia astigmatism, mild and moderate astigmatism and astigmatism axial followed the rules are the main types in school-aged amblyopic children with astigmatism. The age and amblyopia degree have closely relationship with astigmatism. It is necessary to timely correct astigmatism in school-aged children.
