Abstract
Objective: To study the expression and the value of bcl-2 an d bax in bladder carcinoma. Methods: The expressions of bcl-2 and bax were studied by means of immunohistochemical ABC technique in tissues o f 80 cases of bladder carcinoma (TCC), and 18 cases of normal bladde rmucosa. Results: The results showed that bcl-2 expression in b ladder cancer was significantly higher than that in normal bladder (P 0 05), and bax expression was not significantly different in bladder cancer a nd in normal bladder mucosa. The bcl-2 expression was progressively increase in the tumor grade. The positive rate of bcl-2 protein was higher in invasion tum or than in the superficial ones, but there was no significant difference (P 0 05) and bax expression in superficial tumor was higher than that in invasion tumor (P0 05). The bcl-2 positive rate of the tumors recurrence was more than that of irrecurrence. The proportion of bcl-2 to bax was 0 10 and 0 61 and there was significantly different in bladder carcinoma and in normal bladder . The expression of bcl-2 in bladder cancer was positively correlated with path ology grade expression was no relatedsurvival period (P0 05). Co nclusion: The imbalance of bcl-2/bax mainly induced by the undue expre ssion of bcl-2 plays an important role in the development of bladder carcinoma. bcl-2 protein expression might be related to the carcinogenesis, progression p atholoical grade and prognosis of baldder
