Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression and significance of P53,Bcl-2 and Bax proteins in bladder cancer. Methods Immunohistochemical technique( SP) was adopted to detect the expression of P53,Bcl-2 and Bax proteins in 67 cases of bladder cancer and 13 cases of normal bladder mucosa tissues. Results The positive expression rates of P53,Bcl-2 and Bax proteins were 74. 6%, 64. 2% and 70. 1% in bladder cancer, and 15. 4%,23. 1%,100% in normal bladder mucosa tissues, respectively. The expression of P53 and Bcl-2 in bladder cancer was positively associated with histological grade( rP53= 0. 667,rBcl-2= 0. 625,P 0. 05) and clinical stages( rP53= 0. 638,rBcl-2= 0. 717,P 0. 05). The expression of Bax was not correlated with histological grade and clinical stage( P 0. 05). There was a positive correlation between the expression of P53 and Bcl-2 in bladder cancer( r = 0. 778,P 0. 05). Conclusion P53 protein may participate in regulating the cell proliferation in bladder cancer, and Bcl-2,Bax protein may be involved in the regulation of apoptosis. The expression of P53 protein may participate in the development and progression of bladder cancer by increasing anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2 expression.
