The Preliminary Study on the Bird Diversity and Avian-Fauna in the City and Suburb of Nanchang

The bird diversity was investigated in the city and suburb of Nanchang from july 2006 to february 2007.A total of 73 bird species were recorded.There were 37 residents,21 winter migrants,9 summer migrants and 6 travelers.For the avifauna,there are 29 oriental element,4 palaearctic element and 13 widespread element,indicating that the birds in this study are dominated by the oriental element.The quantitative data obtained from september 2007 to february 2008 indicates that the bird composition and community parameters in three habitats are different.Maintenance of diverse habitats can ensure the bird diversity at the regional scale.
