Preliminary Investigation on the Bird Diversity in the Nanchang Suburb

The bird diversity was investigated in the Nanchang suburb from July 2006 to September 2007.There were a total of 48 species including 26 residents,11 winter migrants,8 summer migrants and 3 travelers.For the avifauna,there were 22 Oriental,12 Palaearctic and 13 widespread elements indicating that the birds were the mixed one of Oriental and Palaearctic elements.Only 18 bird species were recorded in the campus.On the other hand,31 bird species were recorded in the cultivation.And 25 and 14 bird species were also recorded in village and wetland respectively.These differences in the bird composition between various habitats may be explained by the differences of micro-habitat diversity in these areas.
