Abstract
Objective To study the technique advantages and the rational image processing of 16-detector mutic-slice CT(MSCT) for diseases of paranasal sinuses. Methods Conventional axial spiral scanning of paranasal sinuses were performed in 68 cases of chronic sinusitis using a SIEMENS Sensation 16 MSCT scanner. The collimation was 0.75mm,table speed was 5mm/cycle.Reconstructed a series of thin slice and high resolution imags, the slice thickness was 1mm,50%increments(0.5mm),the kernel was H70h very sharp. Then loaded the images series into 3D card, the imags were reconstructed into standard axial, coronal and sagittal secondary recongstruction images with software of multi-planar reconstruction(MPR).The ostiomeatal complex was mainly observed, especially the small anatomic structures of paranasal sinuses from different orientation. Results MPR secondary recongstruction images could reach the isotropy, the small anatomic structures of paranasal sinuses could clearly demonstrated. Conclusion The technique of MPR secondary recongstruction of 16-detector MSCT will provide a new modality for diseases of paranasal sinuses.
