Abstract

Objective To study the value of 64-row-detectors helical CT(volumetric computed tomography,VCT) coronal reconstruction in examination of paranasal sinuses. Methods The reconstructed coronal images and directed coronal images of the paranasal sinuses were retrospectively analysed and compared in 50 patients using the GE Lightspeed VCT scanner. The raw data of spiral scan were thickness 0.625mm and pitch 0.5.The effect of manifestation, such as anatomy, soft tissues, bone tissues and diseases of paranasal sinuses, were mainly analysed and compared. Results The clinical needs could be satisfied with the quality of reconstructed coronal images. Conclusion The reformatted coronal images of VCT have higher value in examination of paranasal sinuses.
