Abstract
Catalytic esterification reaction of propionic acid with ethyl alcohol by TiSiW 12 O 40 /TiO 2 has been studied. The effect of catalyst amount, reaction time and molar ratio of alcohol and acid on the yield of ester are discussed. The optimum reaction conditions were found as follows:the molar ratio of ethyl alcohol to propioonic acid was 1.4∶1,quantity of catalyst 2.0%(wt% of alcohol and propionic acid),reaction temperature was about 78 ℃~85 ℃ and reaction time was 1.0 h.The yield of ethy propionate is 50.3%.
