Abstract

Objective:To assess whether the I/D genetic polymorphism and the plasma activity of angiotensin converting enzyme is the risk of Hypertension and blood pressure(EH).Methods:Blood was drawn and DNA ex-tracted in120EH patients and93EH-free control groups, the D and I alleles of ACE were amplified by PCR tech-nique,the ACE genotypes and their allele frequencies of each group were calculated in men and women respective-ly,and were compared. Results:In this population,The frequencies of DD genotype and D allele were significantly higher in EH group than that in control group(P0.05).Among men,the frequencies of DD genotype and D allele were significantly higher in EH group than that in control group(P0.05);In women, the frequencies of DD geno-type and the D allele were not significantly higher in EH than that in control group(P0.05).The ACE plasma ac-tivities were not significantly different among the control group and the EH group; The ACE plasma activities were significantly different among the DD genotype,ID genotype and II genotype. Conclusions:There is a strong correla-tion between the I/D genetic polymorphism of angiotensin converting enzyme and the EH;the DD genotype of ACE gene may be an important risk of the EH.The ACE plasma activity is not associated with the EH.The ACE plasma activity is associated with the ACE genotype.
