Abstract
Objective To assess the efficacy of bi-level positive airway pressure(BiPAP) ventilation in the treatment of COPD patients complicated with Ⅱ respiratory failure. Methods Forty-eight COPD patients complicated with Ⅱrespiratory failure were divided into two groups randomly,22 cases in control group,26 cases in therapy group. The control group was administered with sustained low-flow oxygen through nasal catheter, while BiPAP group with BiPAP ventilation, other treatments were the same. The clinical symptoms and artery blood gas analysis before and after therapy were compared. Results Before and after treatment HR,RR,pH value,PaO 2 and PaCO 2 compared statistically significant difference in the two groups(P 0.05),and 72 h after treatment, the treatment group PaCO 2 and RR better improvement in the control group, the difference was significant(P 0.05);HR,pH,and PaO 2 improvement is better than the control group, but the difference was not signifi-cant(P 0.05).Conclusion BiPAP ventilation is effective in the treatment of COPD patients with Ⅱrespiratory failure.
