Abstract

[Objective] To learn the professional level, the training status and the work arrangement of the health care workers in the primary disease control and prevention institutions in Beijing and to provide scientific basis for the rational making of the relevant policy. [Methods] Unified questionnaires were used to investigate the health workers in the community health care centers in six districts including Xicheng, Xuanwu, Haidian, Fengtai, Shunyi and Miyun. [Results] 482 health care workers (71.51%) took part in over the county-level infectious disease training once in 2004, with the rates of basically satis- fied and completely satisfied being 68.41% and 5.81%, respectively. Short-time special training class was thought of the most ideal training model by 69.04% of workers. And 46.30% of the workers answered working overtime frequently and 42.00% of the workers reported the intention to change work. [Conclusion] In order to adapt to the current requirement of the disease control and prevention work in the primary disease control and prevention units, it should be suggested to improve the performance of the infectious disease training, to improve the work condition and office equipment with the aid of strengthening government in- vestment, and to improve the general professional qualities and the technical level.
