Abstract

Objective: To compare the clinical efficacy of quetiapine and lithium in the treatment of acute manic bipolar disorder. Methods: 58 patients with acute mania in bipolar disorder in our hospital were randomly divided into two groups, the control group was given oral lithium carbonate therapy, the observation group was given quetiapine treatment, both for 8 weeks, the clinical curative effect and complications in two groups of patients were compared. Results: The effective rate in the observation group was 96.6%,significantly higher than 82.8% in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P 0.05).No statistical differences in BRMS and CGI-SI between two groups before treatment(P 0.05),which were significantly decreased 2 weeks,4 weeks,8 weeks after treatment(P 0.05),but the BRMS and CGI-SI score in the observation group 2 weeks,4 weeks after treatment were decreased more than the control group(P 0.05),after 8 weeks of treatment,no significant differences in BRMS and CGI-SI score in the two groups(P 0.05).Conclusion: Quetiapine in the treatment of acute manic bipolar disorder had a rapid onset, less side effect, high safety, high tolerance and good compliance, and it was worthy of clinical application.
