Abstract

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the curative efficacy of methylprednisolone combined with doxofyllin for acute attack of bronchial asthma. METHODS: A total of 132 patients with bronchial asthma were randomly divided into treatment group and control group: 70 cases in the treatment group were assigned to receive methylprednisolone for 3 days plus doxofyllin for 10 days in addition to the routine comprehensive therapy, and 62 in the control group to receive dexamethasone for 3 day plus aristophyllin injection for 10 days in addition to the routine comprehensive therapy. RESULTS: The total effective rate and the total clinical control rate in the treatment group were signficantly higher than in the control group (92.9% vs. 77.4% in total effective rate,P=0.019;45.7% vs.27.4% in total clinical control rate,P=0.03). Compared with the control group, the treatment group showed marked improvment in lung function and blood gas analyses yet with fewer adverse drug reactions, all showing differences between the two groups (P0.05). CONCLUSION: The clinical symptoms, lung function and blood-gas parameters all improved markedly in patients with acute attack of bronchial asthm after treatment with methylprednisolone combined with doxofyllin.
