Expression of Osteopontin in Breast Carcinoma

Objective To explore the expression of OPN and its significance in breast carcinoma. Methods SP immunohistochemical method was used to examine the expression of OPN in 86 cases of breast carcinoma and analyze its relationship with clinical pathological characteristics and survival rate of 5 years. Results The positive rates of OPN was 53.5%(46/86).It was 38.1%,47.3%,74.7% in carcinomas with gradeⅠ,Ⅱand Ⅲ respectively,72.2% and 40.0% in lymph nodes metastases positive group and negative group,38.9% and 78.1% among patients who survived more than 5 years and less than 5 years respectively;The expression of OPN had negative relationship with survival of rate 5 years(P0.05).Cox model revealed that lymph nodes metastases and grade of histology were independent prognostic factors in breast carcinoma. Conclusion OPN is highly expressed in breast carcinoma,and positively correlated to grade of histology and lymph nodes metastases,and negatively correlated to survival rate of 5 years.OPN is not an independent prognostic factor in breast carcinoma.
