Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of embryo location after ultrosuond-guided transfer on the outcomes of in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer(IVF-ET). Methods The data of 586 patients undergoing IVF-ET(including intracytoplasmic sperm injection) therapy for 610 cycles were analyzed retrospectively. All embryo transfer procedures were guided by trans-abdominal ultrasonography and the distance between transfer bubble and transfer catheter tip or the fundus was measured. Results All the 610 cycles were divided into four groups based on the distance between embryo location and the fundus. There were no statistical differences in age, number of oocyte, number of embryo which were transferred, abortion rate and ectopic pregnancy rate among the four groups. The clinical pragnancy rate and embryo implantation rate were statistically higher in 2.0 cm group than in 1.0 cm group(χ2=102.4,123.6;P0.05). Conclusion The pregnancy and implantation rates were higher when the distance between the location of embryo and the fundus was more than 2.0 cm or the embryo was transfered at the lower 1/3 of endometrial cavity in IVF-ET cycles.
