Clinical Comparative Study on Acupuncture Combined with Acupoint Catgut Embedding for Treatment of Simple Obesity

Objective:To comparatively observe the clinical effects of acupuncture,acupoint catgut embedding and the combined method of the two in treating simple obesity and analyze the effect of the changes of serum lipid. Methods: 210 patients with simple obesity were chosed and allocated into 3 groups accordiong to the single-blind random matching principle:acupuncture,acupoint catgut embedding,and the combined of two methods,with points of each group were chosed according to syndrome differentiation. The clinical effects ,the changes of each fat-index (including WHR ,BMI and F%)and serum lipid of different groups were compared after two therapeutic courses. Results: The 3 groups,acupuncture,acupoint catgut embedding and the combined method of the two all had marked effects,which total effective rate were 91.18%,87.50% and 91.43% respectively.The fat-indexes of the patients were remarkably reduced after the therapeutic courses,meanwhile,the serum lipid levels were all changed in a benign way.The differences of the various observation indexes among the 3 groups had no statistical significance. Conclusion: Acupoint catgut embedding has a satisfactory therapeutic effect on simple obesity,with advantages of good compliance and simple manipulation.It is used every 15 days,which can save the patient’s visiting time greatly,and it has an equal curative effect as the conventional acupuncture or combined with acupuncture in treating simple obesity.
