Observation of curative effects of acupuncture combined with acupoint catgut embedding in treatment of 30 patients with simple obesity

Objective To compare the clinical effects of acupoint catgut embedding alone,acupuncture alone and acupuncture combined with acupoint catgut embedding in the treatment of simple obesity.Methods A total of 87 patients with simple obesity were randomly divided into the acupuncture combined with acupoint catgut embedding group with 30 patients,the acupoint catgut embedding control group with 29 patients,and the acupuncture control group with 28 patients.After two treatment courses,clinical effects of the three groups and influences of different treatment methods on body mass index,waist to hip ratio and fat percentage were observed.Results Three treatment methods all showed remarkable curative effects.The total effective rates were 96.7% in the acupuncture combined with acupoint catgut embedding group,68.9% in the acupoint catgut embedding group and 67.9% in the acupuncture group,with statistically significant differences among three groups(P 0.05).All the obesity indicators of the three groups decreased significantly,with no statistical significance(P 0.05).Conclusion Acupuncture combined with acupoint catgut embedding has significant curative effects in the treatment of patients with simple obesity,which is superior to acupoint catgut embedding alone or acupuncture alone.
