Abstract

Objective To seek a better method for treating juvenile simple obesity. Methods Eighty-three patients were allocated to an acupuncture plus acupoint catgut embedding group of 28 cases,an acupuncture group of 28 cases and an acupoint catgut embedding group of 27 cases. The therapeutic effects were evaluated in the three groups. Results The total efficacy rate was 96.4% in the acupuncture plus acupoint catgut embedding group.82.1% in the acupuncture group and 66.7% in the acupoint catgut embedding group. There was a statistically significant difference between the acupuncture plus acupoint catgut embedding group and the acupuncture group or the acupoint catgut embedding group(P0.05).There was no statistically significant difference between the acupuncture group and the acupoint catgut embedding group(P0.05).Conclusion The effect of acupuncture plus acupoint catgut embedding is superior to that of acupuncture and that of acupoint catgut embedding in treating juvenile simple obesity.
