Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the diagnostic performance and prognostic role of the cancer marker CYFRA21-1 and NSE in the lung cancer. Methods:This study included three groups: one group with non small cell lung cancer, one group with small cell lung cancer and a control group with benign lung disease. venous samples were collected. The concentration of CYFRA21-1 and NSE were determined using RIA method. The results were analyzed using the STATA statistic software. Results: The CYFRA21-1 levels in venous in the group with NSCLC was significantly higher than those in the group with SCLC and benign lung disease(the levels of the three groups in serum are 15.45±4.01 , 6.14 ± 3.88 , 1.86 ± 0.89 ). The NSE levels in venous in the group with SCLC was significantly higher than those in the group with NSCLC and benign lung disease (the levels of the three groups in serum are 3.90 ± 1.47 , 2.65 ± 1.47 , 2.16 ± 0.74 ). Compared with the single parameter, the accuracy is increased when combining the assay of CYFRA21-1 and NSE ( P 0.01 ).NSE have prognostic significance in SCLC, CYFRA21-1 have prognostic significance in NSCLC.Conclusion: The sensitivity is the highest to the diagnosis of lung cancer when combining CYFRA21-1 and NSE in serum, and its accuracy is 87.41% . NSE in SCLC is an independent prognostic factor and CYFRA21-1 in NSCLC is an independent prognostic factor. They may be proposed for use in the clinic and research.
