Investigation-based Analysis of Groundcover Plants for Urban Landscape in Shenyang

In an investigation into the groundcover plants used for urban landscaping in Shenyang City,it is found that there are 165 species of common garden groundcover plants in Shenyang City at present,which belong to 97 genera and 46 families.Of the 165 species 117 are herbaceous groundcover plants,32 short shrub groundcover plants,and 16 vine groundcover plants.These garden groundcover plants include herbaceous groundcover plants,short shrub groundcover plants and vine groundcover plants.According to the applicating form the garden groundcover plants can be divided into five classes: groundcover plants,open-field groundcover plants,woodland groundcover plants,three-dimensional green groundcover plants and path groundcover plants.Some proposals are made about exploitation and utilization of garden groundcover plants in Shenyang City: the introduction and domestication of the new superior varieties of groundcover plants should be strengthened;the propagation and promotion of the new superior varieties of groundcover plants be enhanced;the efforts for application of the existing groundcover plants be further made;the native groundcover plants resources in Shenyang be exploited and utilized and the scope of application of the native groundcover plants be expanded;the cooperation and exchanges should be strengthened between the construction unit,the research unit and the design unit;the design philosophy of urban landscape be optimized and the amount of groundcover plants be increased but the amount of lawn be reduced;and the view of scientific development be implemented by deepening scientific research and construction practice.
