Abstract

Objective To study the effect of alendronate sodium and simvastatin on osteoblasts cultured in vitro. Methods Three weeks old SD rats osteoblasts were isolated, osteoblasts were stimulated with alendronate and simvastatin, proliferation ratio and alkaline phosphatase(ALP)activity were assessed. Results Alendronate sodium and simvastatin not only promoted proliferation of osteoblasts, but also stimulated ALP activity, combination of both drugs had a significant effect. Conclusion Alendronate sodium and simvastatin can promote proliferation and ALP activity of osteoblasts, which could be combinated to promote the form of bone.
