Abstract

Objective To investigate the contents of plasma vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF),angiotensin Ⅱ(ATⅡ),albumin excretion rate(AER) before therapy and after treatment in the patients with diabetes mellitus(DM) and diabetic nephropathy(DN).Methods Before therapy and after treatment, the levels of plasma VEGF and ATⅡ were measured by radioimmunoassary,AER and the other markers were measured in our center laboratory. Results The plasma levels of VEGF and ATⅡ were significantly increased in the patients with DM and DN compared with those in the controls(P0.01).The plasma levels of VEGF and ATⅡ after treatment were significantly lower than those before therapy. Conclusion VEGF may be important to the development of DN.
