Detection of Serum Cystatin C in Type 2 Diabetic Nephropathy Patients and Its Clinical Significance

Abstract

Objective To investigate the relationship between the content of serum cystatin C and complication of type 2 diabetic mellitus.Methods Twenty eight patients of diabetic nephropathy,76 diabetic mellitus without renal dysfunction and 46 healthy volunteers were enrolled.The serum levels of cystatin C(Cys C)were determined by particle-enhanced immunoturbidimetry.Urea,Cr and CCr were also determined.Then the correlation of Cys C with Cr and CCr was compared,the area under ROC curve was calculated,respectively.Results Cys C and Cr were significantly higher in diabetic nephropathy patients than the other patients.Cys C was negatively correlated with Ccr,the Cys C was superior than Cr in diagnosing diabetic nephropathy.Conclusion Cys C can be a reliable indicator for early impairment of renal function,and will be helpful for diagnosis of type 2 diabetic nephropathies.
