Abstract

Objective:To study the effection and safety of the simvastatin in treating senile hypercholesterolemia. Methods:Thirty senile patients with hypercholesterolemia were treated with small dose of simvastatin continously for eight weeks(5~10mg/d)The fasting blood lipid and blood sugar? the functions of the liver and the kidnep?creatine kinase were monitored. Results: The effective rate of the improvement in the blood lipid was as follows: TG was 87%, TG and HDL-C were both 53%, LDL-C was 93%. There was no significant difference in lab examination between before the treatment and the after. (p0.05). Conclusion: It is effective and safe of small dose of simvastatin to treat senile hypercholesterolemia.
