Clinical observation of cervical traction and "Gegen Decoction" in treating cervical spondylotic radiculopathy

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of combined cervical traction and Gegen Decoction in the treatment of cervical spondylotic radiculopathy.Methods One hundred and eleven subjects were randomized into two groups:control group in which 52 cases were treated by cervical traction and treatment group in which 59 cases were treated by combined cervical traction and Gegen Decoction.The clinical efficacy,and the score of neck pain and arm numbness were observed.Results The total effective rate was 93.2% in the treatment group and 78.8% in the control group,with a striking difference between the two groups(P0.05);the scores of neck pain and arm numbness were reduced in both groups(P0.05),with more significant reduction in the treatment group than in the control group(P0.05).Conclusion Combined cervical traction and Gegen Decoction has positive effects on cervical spondylotic radiculopathy.
