Abstract
Aim: To investigate the expression of Fas,FasL and VEGF in placenta in patients with severe pre-eclampsia. Methods: The expression of Fas, FasL and VEGF of placenta tissue in 24 cases of normal term pregnancy and 24 cases of severe pre-eclampsia was determined by immunohistological method. Results: Expression of Fas, FasL and VEGF was mainly located in the cytoplasm and membrane of syncytiotrophoblast and cytotrophoblast. Compared with control group, the expression of FasL and VEGF was significantly lower (t=71.84,t=130.23,P0.01), while the expression of Fas was significantly higher in the pre-eclampsia group than those of control group (t=118.8,P0.01). The expression of Fas, FasL and VEGF in pre-eclampsia group was associated with neonates′ body weight and placenta weight. Conclusion: Altered expression of Fas and FasL in trophoblasts might influence pathogenesis of severe pre-eclampsia.
