Study on the Stylistic Features of Ancient China’s Parallel Novels

Parallel novels, whose narrative features are emotion and subjectivisation, are a sub-category of classical Chinese novels. The stylistic features of parallel novels could be generalized as following: slow and indirect narrative rhythm and feminine literary style; frequently used emotional description, which constructed the novels’ typical lyric; plenty of embellishments in writing and gorgeous language; parallel prose alternating with free prose, which showed the tension of the novels, and co-existed historical and current cultural images in parallel novels, which constructed abundant meanings of the parallel novels.
