Abstract
The morphological construction of the digestive system of 8 individuals (4 females,4 males) of Garrulax canorus has been observed visually and microscopically. The results indicate that the tongue is a thin triangle,with many setas in the front,and the seta of the female is numerous and thin,while that of the male is fewer and crassituder. On the root of the tongue there are many tuber-like structures pointing backward in one or two lines. The apex of the tongue is furcate,and the furcate depth of the female is 1.22 mm and the male is 1.87 mm. The esophagus is thin,while the width of whole esophagus is different,and there is no crop that can obviously be seen. On the surface of glandular stomach there are short and small papilla,and the muscular stomach is growth with a flat of developed horniness on the inside. The length of the intestine is almost as long as that of the whole body. The small intestine is relatively developed,with a length of 178.53 mm in females accounting for 87.43% of the total length of the intestinal tract,while the male is 186.62 mm and 89.01%. The caecum is degenerate and the rightward caecum of one swatch is not inverted. The liver is the biggest digestive gland in the coelom and separates into two parts,and the right one separates into two parts too. The pancreas is located in the bend of the duodenum and is thin and long,which all divides into two parts. We also compare the digestive system of Garrulax canorus with that of Minla cyanouropter and Liocichla omeiensis.
