Abstract
Wetlands possess many unique functions such as regional climate regulation,water resource protection,water quality purification,flood and drought control,biodiversity maintenance,tourism and scientific research. Huixian karst wetland,originally up to 120 km~2 in area,is a major proportion of Guilin landscape and the kidney of Guilin.However,it is degrading seriously at present,with only about 20% of the original area,needs protection urgently.Therefore,to carry out retrievable protection for the wetland by establishing natural reserve is of significance for the ecologic construction and enhancing economic and social sustainable development in Guilin city.And at the same time,it is also necessary for the establishment of international famous landscape tourism city.
