Treatment of Neonatorum Dacryocystitis:Report of 78 Cases

Objective To probe into treatment of neonatorum dacryocystitis and its clinical effect.Methods Seventy-eight cases(90 eyes) of dacryocystitis newborn admitted in our department were analyzed retrospectively.All were first treated by massage;those who did not made any recovery after massage were given additional lacrimal passage irrigation,and if it did not operate either,drug-syringed-irrigation probing of lacrimal passage was used.Results Of 78 cases(90eyes),77 cases(89eyes) were cured,4 eyes of which were cured by massage,15 by lacrimal passage irrigation,70 by drug-syringed-irrigation probing of lacrimal passage.The overall cure rate of this group given comprehensive treatment from easy to difficult was 98.9%.Conclusion The three therapies are of different characteristics in treatment of neonatorum dacryocystitis,but drug-syringed-irrigation probing of lacrimal passage has the best curative effect.
