Abstract

Etravirine was approved by the FDA as the first drug of the next generation of the non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors(NNRTI).The drug shows sustained virologic efficacy in patients with NNRTI resistant HIV-1.This result has no doubt to give new hope to the people who are diagnosed with AIDS.This paper reviewes physical and chemical properties,clinical applications and pharmacological mechanism of etravirine.
