Abstract

Objective To study the anticancer activity and apoptosis effects of polyphenols of pomegranate peel on human prostate cancer PC-3cells.Methods Methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium(MTT)assay was used to detect the proliferation of PC-3cells.The cell apoptosis and changes of cell cycle of PC-3cells were analyzed by using flow cytometry after treated with 72h.Results Polyphenols of pomegranate peel significantly inhibited the cell proliferation of PC-3cells in dose and time dependent manners. The results of flow cytometry showed that polyphenol of pomegranate peel can arrest the cells in cycle progression at G1phase,and obviously induce the apoptosis of PC-3cells.Conclusion Polyphenols of pomegranate peel could inhibit the proliferation and apoptosis of PC3cells.
