A Survey of the Knowledge and Behaviors on AIDS among MSM in a Small City

Abstract

Objective To acquire the actual condition of the knowledge and behaviors on AIDS among men who have sex with men(MSM) in a small city.Methods Convenience sampling and snowball sampling were used to select respondents;questionnaire was used during the research.Results A total of 214 MSM completed the investigation.Of them more than 70% MSM have the right knowledge on spread of AIDS.In recent 1 year,0.7% MSM have more than one sexual partner,66.0% MSM have had sex with strange sexual partners,the rate of anus sex or oral sex are 84.7% or 91.2% respectively,the rate of condom using was 32.9% in anus sex or 3.6% in oral sex.44.4% MSM were at marriage or divorce,37.2% MSM had sex with female.Conclusion The high risk factors in prevalence of AIDS among MSM and spreading to general population has existed in the small city,so some suitable and effective measures for intervention should be taken.
