Sedation effect of midazolam and propofol used in patients with mechanical ventilation ICU

Abstract

Objective To investigate the sedation effects of midazolam and propofol used in patients with mechanical ventilation ICU.Methods Totally 300 ICU patients with mechanical ventilation accorded to order of admission were randomly divided into three groups:simple to use midazolam group,simple to use propofol,combination of midazolam and propofol group,each 100 cases,observed three groups of patients with sedation efficient,calm time,and the ICU stay.Results The combined use of midazolam and propofol and simple to use propofol sedation group was significantly shorter in combination with midazolam alone group(P0.05),combined use of midazolam and propofol group was significantly less than the cost of using propofol alone group(P0.05),while the residence time in the ICU,there was no difference between the three experimental groups.Conclusions Midazolam and propofol used in ICU patients with mechanical ventilation with sedation can effectively improve the calm efficiency and reduce sedation time,should be widely applied.
