Abstract
Objective: To explore the relationship between squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCC-Ag ) level and lesions extent in the patients with esophageal cancer. Methods: The pre-treatment?after-treatment sera from 331patients with esophageal cancer from 1998 to 2002 were analyzed for the SCC-Ag level by IMX. Results: Significant correlations were found between the pre-treatment SCC-Ag level and the clinical stage, lesions length (P 0.05),no ralation was found between the pre-treatment SCC-Ag level and the pathologic classification (P 0.05). Conclusion: Pre-treatment and after-treatment measurement of serum SCC-Ag level can be used as an important index of reference to determine the seriousness of the diagnosis?pathological phase and monitor of after-treatment recurrence in patients with esophageal cancer.
