Abstract

Besides advocating vernacular writing,promoting the status of vernacular literature and providing good models for the new vernacular literature of that time,the main reason why Hu Shi did textual research on a series of traditional vernacular novels is to carry out an ideological revolution so as to achieve his lofty goal of recreating civilization in China.
