On Hu Shi's Viewpoint of the Folklore Literature

The academic circles have made many comments on the historic significance of the advocacy of the vernacular and the vernacular literature by Hu Shi for Chinese literature.As for the concepts themselves of the vernacular and the vernacular literature,little attention has been paid,to say nothing of the spiritual essence hidden in them.This paper holds that it is from the dual angle of view of popularity and folk that Hu Shi defined the vernacular.He also entrusted to the vernacular literature double connotations of the popular literature and the folklore literature.Hence the potential ideological character of the modern folklore factor was bred.
