“Revolutionary ”Tendency in Modern Chinese Thought in the Vernacular Movement

Abstract
During the period of the literary revolution,Hu Shi was one of the most famous and important rep resentatives of vernacular movement,which is not Hu Shi's advocates on impulse,but the product of the era.In the process of cultural thoughts of modern China,Hu Shi,Chen Duxiu and their followers used vernacular to re place the classical style.They were more radical to promote the movement.They first theoretically created ver nacular status,then cleaned the battlefield against opponents by classical Chinese positions,eventually built up vernacular literature movement,and realized the modern transition.The movement carried out revolutionary tendency.Hu Shi and the vernacular movement in modern thought played important roles.The vernacular move ment and its revolutionary tendency will be discussed in this study work.
