Abstract

OBJECTIVE To study the distribution and drug-resistance of pathogenic bacteria in the burn unit.METHODS Based on the test data of bacteria isolated from patients in our burn unit, the identification and antibiotics sensitivity were reviewed from Jan 2006 to Sept 2007.RESULTS Among all the bacteria,Gram-negative bacteria accounted for 75.96%,Gram-positive bacteria accounted for 19.12%,and fungi accounted for 4.92%;Pseudomonas aeruginosa was the most common organism(32.24%),followed by Enterobacter cloacae(13.12%),Acinetobacter baumannii(10.39%),and Staphylococcus aureus(9.29%).The bacterial resistance increased significantly. The antibiotic resistance rate of A.baumannii to imipenem was 8.33%,while that of S.aureus to vancomycin was 0.CONCLUSION Due to the serious drug resistance of strains isolated from our burn unit, monitoring frequently to drug resistance of strains and using antibiotics reasonably are the key measures.
