Abstract

Objective To discuss the bacterial epidemiology and resistance to antibiotics in burn unit. Methods The identification and antibiotics sensitivity test data of bacteria isolated from 208 patients in our burn unit were revrewed during 2004 to 2008.Results Among all the bacteria(520 strains),gram negative bacilli accounted for 378 strains(72.7%),while gram positive cocci accouted for 142 strains(27.3%),Pseudomonas aerugionsa accounted for 24.2%,Staphylococcus aureus accounted for 21.9%.The bacterial resistance increased significantly. The sensitivity of Pseudomonas aerugionasa to imipenem was 85%,while that of Staphylococcus aureus to vancomycin was 95.6%.Conclusion The dominant bacteria in our burn unit are Pseudomnans aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus, respectively selected imipemide, vancomycin, and imipenem.
