Some Comments on Zhu Lian's Idea of Redology:a View from His Honglou Pingmeng(《红楼评梦》)

Abstract

Honglou Pingmeng(《红楼评梦》) is an important book of redology written by Zhu Lian in the Qing Dynasty which centrally reflects his idea of redology.Besides the favorable comments on Cao Xueqin's talent and learning,the ideological significance,tragical value,characterization,plot structure and art method of A Dream of Red Mansions are profoundly discussed in the book.Furthermore,the inheritance and creation of A Dream of Red Mansions of literary work of previous dynasties is also analyzed in which some viewpoints are still meaningful for the development of modern redology.
