Effects of Lactobacillus Capsules combined with Metronidazole Suppositories in treatment and prevention of recurrence of bacterial vaginosis

Objective To discuss the curative effect of Lactobacillus Capsules combined with Metronidazole Suppositories on bacterial vaginosis and their effect in preventing the recurrence of the disease.Methods 88 cases of patients with bacterial vaginosis were divided into observation group and control group at random.The patients in observation group were given Lactobacillus Capsules combined with Metronidazole Suppositories,while the patients in control group were given Metronidazole Suppositories only.The Lactobacillus Capsules and Metronidazole Suppositories were both given via vagina,one tablet once each day at night for 10 days respectively.The patients in two groups were instructed to keep abstinent and avoid rinsing the vagina and using antibiotics and probiotics during the medical treatment and recheck period.The clinical curative effects in the two groups were observed 2 weeks after the discontinuation of treatment,and recurrence rates within 3 and 6 months follow-up period were compared.Results At 2 weeks after discontinuation of medical treatment,the total clinical efficiency in observation group was 95.45%,which was much higher than that in control group(81.82%)(χ2= 4.06,P 0.05).The recurrence rates in observation group within 3 and 6 months of follow-up were 7.14% and 16.67% respectively,which were both obviously lower than those in control group(25.00% and 38.89%)(χ2= 4.75 and 4.87,P 0.05).Conclusion Lactobacillus Capsules combined with Metronidazole Suppositories has favorable curative effect on bacterial vaginosis and can reduce the recurrence rate,showing double effects of both treating and preventing bacterial vaginosis.
