Phoenix Nirvana:the Destiny and Transformation of Traditional Chinese History

In the latter half of 19th century,China was in the grip of serious social and cultural crisis and the traditional Chinese historiography could hardly meet the needs of the times.Under such situation,Liang Qichao and some master scholars rose to criticize the traditional Chinese historiography,construct the new historiography,and initiate the new historiography movement.Then,after painful transformation,the Chinese historiography took up the responsibility of saving the nation and created favorable conditions for the development of Marxism historiography in China.Therefore,the new Chinese historiography is of great academic and practical significance.However,it has its limitations because some of them had the prejudice for the historical materialism and were excessively doubtful about the historical records.
