Comparative study between ziprasidone and risprasidone in treatment of schizophrenia

Abstract

Objective:To study the clinical efficacy and side effects of ziprasidone in the treatment of first-onset schizophrenia.Method:Sixty schizophrenic inpatients were divided into ziprasidone group or risperidone group randomly for 8 weeks.Positive and negative symptoms scale(PANSS)and treatment emergent symptom scale(TESS)were used to evaluate the efficacy and side effects respectively.Results:There were no significant differences in efficacy between two groups(P0.05).Ziprasidone had less side effects than risperidone significantly(P0.05).Conclusion:Ziprasidone is a safe and effective antipsychotic drug.
