Abstract
The effects of lead nitrate with different concentrations(0、50、100、300、500 mg / L) on seed germination and seedling growth of five rice varieties that widely cropped in Hubei province was studied, and the differences of Pb2 +stress between japonica and indicia were also analyzed and compared. The results showed that lead nitrate with low concentration could promote the seed germination of japonica, while high concentration could obviously inhibit seed germination of all rice varieties,and this inhibitory effect was enhanced with the increase of lead nitrate concentration. The Pb2+stress on the growth of five rice seedlings emerged significant inhibition. Moreover, for five kinds of rice varieties, japonica showed better tolerance to Pb2+stress than indicia.
