Experimental study on synergy and attenuation of Liujunzi Decoction in tumor bearing mice treated with chemotherapy

Abstract

Objective To investigate the synergy and attenuation of Liujunzi Decoction to S180 tumor bearing mouse treated by cyclophosphamide(CTX).Methods S180 tumor bearing mice were established and then divided randomly into five groups,including tumor-bearing control group,CTX group,Liujunzi Decoction(high and low dose) plus CTX groups,and Zhenqifuzheng Capsules plus CTX group.We calculated the tumor-supression rate,measured the weights of spleen and thymus,observed the functions of liver and kidney and the change of immunoglobulin(Ig),detected the content of nitric oxide(NO) in spleen.Results(1)The tumor-weight-inhibiting rates were higher in each Liujunzi Decoction plus CTX group than in the tumor-bearing control group(P﹤0.01).The tumor-weight-inhibiting rates of Liujunzi Decoction high-dose plus CTX group were higher than that of CTX group(P﹤0.05).(2) Compared with the two Liujunzi Decoction plus CTX groups,the index of spleen and thymus,and the level of IgG in the CTX group were lower,and the content of NO in spleen were higher,which revealed significant differences(P﹤0.05 or P﹤0.01).(3) The level of serum ALT were higher in the CTX group than in the high dose Liujunzi Decoction plus CTX group(P﹤0.05).Conclusion Liujunzi Decoction can enhance immunity and this could be the mechanism of the synergy and attenuation of Liujunzi Decoction on CTX activities in S180 tumor bearing mouse.
