Abstract
Objective To characterize the central corneal thickness of myopic eyes of Chinese people and to evaluate its effect on the measurement of intraocular pressure with a Goldman tonometer. Methods The central corneal thickness and intraocular pressure of 1583 patients were measured by ultrasound pachymetry and the Goldman tonometer, respectively. Results The mean CCT of participants was(551.19±34.61)μm among males and(545.73±33.59)μm among females.CCT was negatively related to age and refractive error.IOP was positively related to CCT,and there was a difference of 1.5 mmHg per 100 μm in IOP in CCT.The ocular hypertension group was prone to have a thicker cornea than the normal group. Conclusion CCT should be measured along with IOP because of its effect on IOP measurement.
